Saturday at Millerstown OMA
I showed up in Millertown about 9 Saturday morning to wet ground and cloudy weather. As the day went on the sun came out and it turned into a really nice day. I got into work mode about 11 or so when I went over to the Rekluse truck to watch them install one of their clutches in a quad. From there I started going around and doing some small interview stuff with a couple of the guys. About 2 I got into race mode and started getting ready to go out and make a couple laps on the track. I didn't know what to expect going out knowing that it has rained the last week and very heavy at times. The race was to start at 2:30, but Gusse must have forgot his watch again this weekend because we didn't get started until about 4. And we are off. I got to the corner first with a good idea where I wanted to cross the creek going into the woods. Well, not such a good idea. The water was a little deeper than I thought, so by time I made it across Jimmy Woodford had made it around me and started checking out. The track was very slick. I started making some passes when that came to an end. I was along the ridge top sliding down the middle of the trail sideways not even touching the gas or my brakes, then I went down. Thanks to my Fastway/ProMoto handguards I could keep racing with no broken levers. Got back up and finished the slickest race I have ever took place in. Finished 3rd in my class and 10th overall, so it was still a good day. Saturday came to an end with a campfire and hanging out with some good friends.
